Vietnam regulation to see armed officers on board flights

From late December, security officers on board Vietnamese airlines are to be armed with weapons and support tools, under a new government regulation in Vietnam.

According to the new rule, the security officers, who will be under the authority of the pilot, will be equipped to ensure safety should any incident occur on board.  The new regulation also decrees that passengers may be subject to flight bans of three to 12 months for offenses such as causing disturbance and issuing verbal threats to use explosives.
