Colombia vets begin sterilizing drug baron Escobar's hippos

Hippo descendants of those belonging to late drug lord Pablo Escobar are undergoing sterilization in Colombia as their presence in the Antioquia region of the country has been a growing problem in recent years. The animals, who thrive in the country’s tropical climate, eat farmers' crops and tons of vegetation in the area. The Colombian government, which is funding the sterilizations with money seized from drug trafficking, says the animals also pose a public safety risk. Read more:
