You can get your five-a-day on the go in China now that it has introduced vegetable vending machines
There is no excuse for not getting your five-a-day in Shanghai, now that vegetable vending machines have been installed in the city.
We're more familiar with vending machines issuing chocolate bars and soft drinks, but these new machines offer a welcome healthy alternative.
To make it convenient for those seeking a healthy snack, the machines will operate 24 hours-per-day in the central area of Shanghai.
The vegetables will be sold at three yuan ($0.5) for 500g on average, and as an added bonus, the price will be ten to 20% lower than the cost in retail outlets. To make it even more convenient, customers can purchase the vegetables with cash or by scanning the QR code posted on the machine.
Let's hope the service spreads further afield as this new innovation means that snacking healthily has never been quite as convenient and easy.
