US suffers 'potentially life-threatening' freezing temperatures

Weather advisories and warnings are in place for around 190 million people in the US as the country suffers from the worst blast of freezing weather since last year’s polar vortex. The National Weather Service has predicted that nearly 90% of the country would see below freezing temperatures on Thursday morning with wind chills making it feel as cold as -45°C (-50°F) in places such as New England. Travelers are advised to always be prepared with adequate clothing; exposed skin can freeze in minutes and hypothermia is a risk if spending time outdoors. Read more:
