These are the US airlines that have the best Wi-Fi for business travelers
For those who like to up their travel game, there’s one particular perk that tends to entice many travelers: Wi-Fi. A new study by HighSpeedInternet.com has ranked in-flight Wi-Fi on various airlines in the US. Basing scores on speed, availability and cost, JetBlue, Southwest, Virgin America and Delta Air Lines have come out on top for the corporate traveller.
Virgin America delivers a solid 15Mbps and has Wi-Fi on board all flights for business travelers, however, it comes out as the most expensive costing up to US$25 per day. Though not 100% available across all of its flights, JetBlue’s Wi-Fi is as fast as Virgin America’s and is completely free. JetBlue is the 6th largest carrier in the US.
“Along with being the most affordable, JetBlue’s in-flight Wi-Fi is also among the fastest; it’s tied with Delta and Virgin America at 15 Mbps,” writes John Dilley of HighSpeedInternet.com.
“Southwest grabbed the second spot with a great balance of affordability and availability. It offers in-flight Wi-Fi on 90% of its ASM [Available Seat Miles: the total service capacity of an airline] and charges just $8 per day.”
The study notes that if you need Wi-Fi on your flight, avoid Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Spirit Airlines as they don’t offer in-flight Wi-Fi services on any of their ASM.
“When traveling for business, out-of-pocket cost isn’t as high of a concern” notes Dilley. “If you’re an employee, your company will likely be footing the bill. And if you’re a business owner, paying for reliable in-flight internet could keep your employees productive while traveling. After all, you gotta spend money to make money!”
