Life is always rainbows and unicorns at this Bangkok cafe
If you feel like you need to escape reality for a while and sink into a world of rainbows and unicorns, you can do so quite literally at this cafe in Bangkok.
Unicorns remain strong at the top of the world’s favorite trends, as testified by food crazes like Los Angeles’ glitter pizza, and Bangkok knows no shortage of interesting and quirky cafes – for example, it’s the city where the first official, Studio Ghibli-licensed My Neighbor Totoro cafe opened. Put the two together, and you have the Unicorn Cafe. Located in the Silom neighborhood, in the Bang Rak district of Thailand’s capital, the cafe is a pastel fantasy dream right from the decor. You’ll find unicorn-themed wallpaper, carpets, statues and furniture welcoming you as soon as you walk in. The cafe also has an abundance of unicorn plushies and toys, which are a perfect Instagram opportunity – especially if paired with a unicorn onesie. The cafe has a whole wardrobe of them, and customers can borrow them to snap pictures for their social media before returning them.
The food served is no less Instagram-worthy. If you love rainbow food, at the Unicorn Cafe you’ll find plenty to satisfy all your desires, from rainbow crepes and cakes to rainbow waffles and toast, a type of dessert particularly loved in Bangkok. Drinks are also pastel-coloured, especially the cafe’s signature Galaxy Frappe, which comes in a star-shaped container and is big enough for four or five people to share. The most on-theme detail, though, is that almost all meals come with a tiny horn, burgers included.
The cafe also has a tiny shop that, you guessed, sells all types of unicorn-related merchandise imaginable, from throw pillows and toys to unicorn-shaped power banks for electronic devices.
