Uber launches moto-taxi service in Bangkok
Global taxi app service Uber has launched a service on two wheels in the Thai capital targeting commuters fed up with Bangkok’s notorious traffic jams.
Called UberMOTO, the service was introduced on Wednesday, 24 February, in Bangkok, where the company said the average daily commute takes 120 minutes. The on-demand service will cater to the districts of Sathorn, Siam and Silom. Drivers need to be insured, undergo a screening process which includes a police background check, and provide passengers with helmets. Rival taxi app Grab offers a similar service in Thailand, called GrabBike, which is also available in Indonesia and Vietnam.
