Typhoon Ruby to hit the Philippines on Saturday

Typhoon Hagupit, known locally as Ruby, is expected to make landfall in the Philippines this Saturday and has been declared a ‘super’ typhoon. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is on ‘red alert’ and schools have already suspended classes in some areas. The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised that travel disruptions are likely in the Visayas and Mindanao, with flight cancellations expected at airports in Manila.
