Two Alaska chefs receive James Beard Award nominations

Laura Cole of 229 Parks in Denali National Park and Beau Schooler of The Rookery Cafe in Juneau have been nominated for the United States’ most prestigious culinary awards.

Cole grabbed a nomination for Best Chef of the Northwest, a competitive category with other nominees from culinary capitals like Seattle and Portland, and Schooler was nominated for “Rising Star of the Year,” a similarly packed category with nominees hailing from San Francisco, New York and Chicago. The awards will be handed out 2 May in Chicago. Read more: adn.com
