Winners of National Geographic’s 2019 travel photo contest
Travel photography is an amazing way to spark wanderlust while you’re looking at a screen, and now the most amazing photos of the year have been revealed.
National Geographic has unveiled the winners of its 2019 Travel Photo Contest. The grand prize winner is Weimin Chu, who captured the fishing village of Upernavik in northwestern Greenland. What makes the village unique is that the colour of the buildings denote their function, like red for commercial properties and blue for a fisherman’s home. This helps people find what they are looking for when the building is covered in snow. Chu won US$7500 (€6627) and a post on National Geographic Travel’s Instagram account.
