Tourists barred from visiting Northern Sri Lanka

The government of Sri Lanka has banned tourists from visiting the north of the country unless they have prior permission from the military. The ban was reportedly imposed to cover a visit by the president to mark the resumption of train services between Colombo and Jaffna but it has not been withdrawn, forcing travel agents to change trips and governments around the world to update their travel advisory warnings.
