Tour de Timor bike race showcases Asia's youngest country

The biggest event of Timor-Leste’s annual sporting calendar, a gruelling five-day mountain bike race, begins on Sunday in the capital Dili.

This year’s route, a loop around the nation’s centre, covers a distance of 395km, with a total climb of 8272m. Launched in 2009, a key goal of the Tour is to draw international attention to the peaceful conditions and natural beauty of Asia’s youngest country. Read more:
