China’s tourism body has announced it will begin a campaign to clean up hygiene conditions in toilets at tourist sites around the country. Over the next three years, 33,500 new toilets will be installed and a further 25,000 will be renovated. The authorities said visitors have long complained about the conditions in toilets around China. The ‘toilet revolution’ comes as China has announced a year-on-year drop in tourism numbers.
