You could travel the US in style in one of these tiny, handcrafted portable homes
If you are looking for a portable home for your travels, these adorable vintage designs will see you travelling around in style. There are two different types, the 313-square-foot Escape Vintage and 360-square-foot Escape Vintage XL, both of which celebrate traditional Americana design.
These tiny, handcrafted portable homes are made in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and both models are 25 feet-long. They are wrapped in cedar lap siding, and have very attractive flower boxes, window panes and a screened front door. Although built like a cottage, they are Park Model RVs, and therefore require no foundation and are not subject to property tax.
The Vintage model features a first floor queen-size bed with storage below and and costs from $64,300 (€52,021). The XL features a large first floor walk around bedroom and costs from $76,500 (€61,891). "This is our most classic design yet,” says Escape Homes founder, Dan Dobrowolski. “The vintage oak floors, butcher block kitchen table and counters, and built-in bookshelves conjure up images of that family cabin that generations have enjoyed.”
Both vintage models can sleep up to four people, and come with a refrigerator, stove and microwave, so if you're on the road, you can cater for yourself. There are also optional flatscreen TVs with blu-ray and washer and dryer. The homes are easily transported via their own trailer, and have high-efficiency insulation and climate control options. This allows them to withstand extreme heat or cold, so you don't have to worry about travelling around different climates. Power usage is minimal and water, power and utility hook-up take just minutes.
