Indian dabbawallahs to deliver online goods as well as lunches

Flipkart, the biggest online retailer in India, has struck a deal with the famous dabbawallahs of Mumbai. Under the deal, the legions of cycle couriers who deliver packed lunches to hundreds of thousands of workers every day in India’s largest city will take over the final depot-to-door stage of delivery for online shoppers, carrying packages alongside the tin tiffin boxes that contain the city’s lunches. The dabbawallahs are famous for their accuracy, delivering the right lunch to the right customer with an almost 100% success rate in a city of 21 million people. Read more: bbc.co.uk
