Norwegian billionaire Petter Stordalen narrowly escaped serious injury after his daredevil stunt to mark the opening of the Clarion Hotel & Congress Malmö Live went awry. Stordalen has a reputation for opening his hotels in a variety of crazy ways, and last week he chose to launch himself up a ramp on a jet ski, in the style of James Bond, to arrive at the US$400 million waterfront hotel in front of thousands of onlookers. He was travelling at such speed, however, that he hit a set of concrete steps instead. Undeterred and full of adrenaline, Stordalen ran to the stage to yell, "Malmö!" Fortunately, the man once named by Forbes Magazine as "the flashiest Scandinavian on the planet" suffered no serious injuries and took to Twitter afterwards to poke fun at himself.
