Thousands stranded as Catalan trains paralysed by cable theft
Catalonia’s high-speed rail network was left paralysed on Thursday after a robbery of fibre-optic cables stranded thousands of passengers.
The theft meant train staff were unable to communicate and forced Renfe to shut down the network completely. High-speed trains between Barcelona and Madrid and trains heading to the French border were affected by the shut-down. A replacement bus service is now operating. Read more: thelocal.es
