Underwater train between Wales and Ireland proposed

A Welsh think-tank has proposed a train connecting Holyhead in north-west Wales and Dublin. The underground train would operate in a similar way to the Channel Tunnel between England and France and would cost around £15 billion. The new route is proposed alongside an improved railway network and new city metros in a report called Vision 2035: Cymru Wales. The Irish government said that while it was keen on improved connections with Britain and Europe, it believed the costs of an underwater tunnel would be prohibitive. Read more: bbc.co.uk
