Thieves steal shoes from former Nazi death camp

Shoes belonging to victims of the Holocaust have been stolen from Majdanek camp near Lublin in eastern Poland. The former Nazi concentration camp, now a museum and memorial, displays thousands of prisoners' shoes to illustrate the scale of the atrocity. Employees discovered the theft during a routine inspection on Saturday; a hole had been cut in the protective metal mesh around the display. The incident has been reported to the police and comes just weeks after the infamous 'Arbeit macht frei' sign was stolen from Dachau concentration camp in Germany. Read more: news.sky.com
