The latest dessert craze to sweep the world is the Tellabab, a Nutella kebab
Social media generally gets a bad rep, but one thing we have to thank it for is the gift of ingenious bakers around the world who make wild and wonderful pastries specifically for the purpose of being shared on Twitter and Instagram.
The latest mouth-watering innovation popping up on people’s feeds comes with a strange moniker – the ‘Tellabab’. A new trend that hails from Sydney, this is a Nutella-based dessert made by the Tella Balls Dessert Bar that specialises in all things sweet and mindblowing-ingly delicious. And kebabs now, apparently!
The latest in weird dessert hybrids, the Tellabab is made from a doughnut pita bread, and filled with milk and white chocolate shavings that are carved off a rotisseries much like in your regular kebab shop! On top of that it’s served with strawberries, whipped cream, bananas, and great lashings of Nutella.
The scrumptious dessert and its unusual way of being served have attracted quite a lot of attention. But in fact Tella Balls is not the first bakery to do it.
These desserts have been popular in the United Arab Emirates under the name of chocolate shawarmas for quite some time, and the Aussie version is simply an updated and different version to perhaps suit the sweet tooth of dessert lovers down under.
Regardless, chocolate shawarma or Tellabab aside, it’s all genius.
