Thailand switches emergency number to 911
Thailand’s government has decided to change the national emergency number from 191 to 911, the same number used in the US.
The US number was reportedly adopted instead of 112, used in many European countries, due to concerns it could be confused with section 112 of Thailand’s criminal code which relates to defamation of the royal family. Existing emergency numbers including 191 and 1669 will be directed to 911 until further notice. Read more: bangkokpost.com
