Taiwan's most northerly lighthouse opens its doors
A lighthouse on the northernmost point in Taiwan opened to the public on Saturday.
The Fuguijiao lighthouse (富貴角灯塔) in the Shimen district sits at the top of the northernmost point in Taiwan. It was originally built by the Japanese in 1897 to aid the construction of a submarine cable system between Japan and Taiwan, the lighthouse is one of eleven lighthouses which have opened to the public since 2013. Taiwan’s government plans to open all of the country’s 35 lighthouses to visitors over the next few years. Read more: chinapost.com.tw
