Swiss region bans the burqa in public places
The Italian-speaking Swiss canton of Ticino has banned the wearing of the burqa in all public places including restaurants, shops and while driving.
The law was approved by the region’s parliament on Monday and offenders could be fined up to a maximum of 10,000 francs (£6500). There will be no exception for tourists visiting Ticino. Read more: thelocal.ch
