Surface subway could come to Ulaanbaatar in 2017

Getting around Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia may soon get easier as a modern bus system, which would operate like a surface subway, may start operating as early as 2017.

The Asian Development Bank will lend more than $200 million for the project over the next six to nine years, which would be used for roads and bridges on transit corridors. The system would run on designated lines and stop at raised platforms, operating similar to a subway line, reports Bloomberg Business

Construction could start in earlier 2017 with one line finished in October of that year.

The use of cars contributes greatly to air pollution and smog in the city, where some people heat their their homes with coal.
