Pack your thermals, because you can now stay for the night in an igloo in India
If you're a fan of unusual accommodation and winter adventures, you'll be intrigued to hear that you can stay for the night at an igloo in India for the very first time.
Keylinga Himalayan Adventures is a winter-sports company based in Manali in the north of the country. It is run by Vikas Kumar and Tashi Dorje, who are offering travellers the experience of laying their head for the night in one of their two newly-built igloos.
The igloos are 8 x 9 foot-wide and 6.5 feet in height, and are made from blocks of compressed snow. Staying in them comes as part of the company's winter sports adventure program, which includes skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing.
Accommodation is on a twin-sharing basis, and you will sleep on a thick foam mattress. You won't be chilly as you'll be tucked up in warm feather sleeping bags with an extra fleece and a hot water bottle.
While the adventure company says that it isn't necessarily hot inside an igloo, it is definitely warmer and more comfortable than the cold climate outside and will protect you from freezing temperatures and winter winds. As snow is essential for the igloos, they are only available to stay in during the winter sports season.
