Try a reindeer safari this winter and stay in a glass igloo while viewing the Northern Lights
Here is a holiday idea sure to get you into the festive spirit. A resort in Finland is offering a number of bespoke winter packages, including sleeping under the Northern Lights in a glass igloo and going on a reindeer safari through the Arctic wilderness.
The unique excursion is available from Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, and sees participating guests being provided with thermal outfits before being picked up by a reindeer farmer for an icy adventure. Visitors are then treated to a two-hour sleigh ride through a wintry forest where they have the chance to take in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
The trip takes a break halfway through, where it stops for refreshments and stories by an open fire, just in case people are feeling the cold. Guests can also take part in husky safaris on the resort ranging from 15 minutes to epic overnight adventures. Located 250 kilometres from the Arctic Circle, Kakslauttanen resort also features a range of other summer and winter activities, including snow tank treks, horse riding, gold panning, mountain biking, ice fishing, aurora hunting, skiing and snowboarding as well as visits to Santa’s home.
