St Lucia backs local communities with culture tourism push

St Lucia’s local artists, musicians and craftspeople will soon be easier for tourists to find and interact with thanks to an initiative by the Caribbean island’s Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries. The project intends to boost visibility of local communities and their cultures, to make it easier for tourists to engage with local people and the island’s creative industries and to help travellers find locally made souvenirs to take home with them. According to the Ministry, the initiative is a response to tourists’ increasing desire to interact with local culture and communities, which has previously been difficult in St Lucia. Read
