America’s Midwest and East Coast might still be in the grip of a record-breaking winter, but in northern California the first signs of spring have arrived. Well-known Daffodil Hill in Volcano, east of Sacramento, is in full bloom a good few weeks before the flowers normally appear in mid-March. Recent rains and higher than average temperatures are behind the colourful display and the hill is open to visitors every day of the week. Read more: sacbee.com
