Speedo clad swimmer braves Cape Town shark tank to promote conservation
On Tuesday, an extreme swimmer wearing nothing more than a pair of Speedos, took a daring dip in the shark tank at Cape Town’s Two Oceans Aquarium.
Justin Coetzee was accompanied by two shark handlers and a photographer when he made his dive in aid of conservation, in particular to raise awareness of the issue of plastic pollution. According to Coetzee the sharks are far less scary than society portrays and that despite their fearsome reputation they too are being hunted and killed on a huge scale for their fins, teeth, oil, meat and cartilage. Coetzee reminds people that ‘It is essential that we realise the impact our behaviour has on the environment. We need to conserve and preserve it for generations to come.’
