University students in Danang have tested a speaking robot designed to help people make their way across Vietnam’s notoriously busy city streets. The traffic-guide robot, which stands nearly 2m tall, wears a helmet and carries a lamp stick, has a number of inbuilt sensors that assist in navigating through the traffic. The robot also speaks, politely greeting people as they approach, and admonishing those it detects breaking traffic laws. The robot will reportedly be deployed on major roads around the city.
