South Korea to offer tax breaks for cosmetic surgery tourism
South Korea has announced it will offer tax refunds to tourists who undertake cosmetic surgery in the country.

The country’s 2015 tax code revision outlines a plan for any foreign national who gets plastic surgery in South Korea will be able to collect a refund on VAT. Refunds will commence from April 2016, and eligible visitors will be able to collect their refund upon production of a receipt from a medical clinic upon departure from the country. South Korea has introduced a number of tourism discounts and tax breaks in recent weeks in a bid to revitalise its slowing tourism industry in the wake of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) outbreak in June.
