Stay in an amazing tree-mansion with a copper tub in Somerset
Sometimes, reconnecting with nature can prove to be the ultimate relaxation experience. Coupled with a splash of luxury and some home comforts, a suitably rustic tree house in Somerset, England has been wowing guests with its unique design and stylish features.
Located in Blackmore Vale, the Cheriton Treehouse is more than a simple garden getaway. The curved capsules of the accommodation twine around a mature oak tree, while inside, a huge copper tub allows guests to soak in style while looking out across the rolling countryside below. The tree house also features a special heated floor system and a large handcrafted bed.
Guests are surrounded by nature, with the windows and large skylight being designed to offer the best views of the surrounding area. The first treehouse of its kind in the UK, it also features two elevated viewing decks, as well as a wood burning stove and a sofa that can be transformed into a spare bed for extra guests. The main house at Cheriton at the top of a nearby hill is the only building in sight, and the property is close to a number of popular walking routes, including ones at Stourhead and Shaftesbury.
For any visitors wishing to explore further afield, the towns of Bruton and Frome are nearby, and offer access to independent shops, eateries and country pubs, as well as the Hauser & Wirth art gallery.
“It felt like stepping into a giant Swedish sauna, all wood and glazing with a rich smell of oak. We watched the morning moon and blue tits dancing in the trees from bed, listening to the wind howling around us, and we sat on the terrace with coffee in the sunshine and put on our boots for a stomp across the fields before retreating to the bubble bath (with a glass of wine) to soak our muscles,” Tessa, a recent guest and representative from self-catering website Canopy and Stars said about the experience.
Prices start at £270 (€306) per night for two people. More information on booking the Cheriton Treehouse is available at the Canopy and Stars website.
