Partial solar eclipse to be widely visible in North America Thursday afternoon

There will be a partial solar eclipse on Thursday afternoon, which will be viewable in much of North America. NASA has advised that to safely view the eclipse, which will be the last of 2014, viewers should not look at the sky with the naked eye but should use protection such as filters found in welding glasses (sun glasses are not enough). They have advised you can also view the eclipse by making a homemade pinhole projection with a piece of card. Read more:
