Slovenian town plans Europe's first beer fountain
The small town of Žalec in eastern Slovenia is planning to put itself on the map by building Europe’s first beer fountain.
The town, which sits amidst a valley of hop plantations, plans to spend €170,000 on a new fountain that will spout several different locally made beers. Visitors will pay €6 for three 30cl servings and a commemorative mug. Attempts by opposition councillors to have the plans abandoned as a poor use of council funds were voted down two-to-one, so the fountain looks set to go ahead.
