Six conservancies to be established in northern Kenya
London-based Tullow Oil and Africa Oil have signed a five-year agreement with the Turkana and Pokot communities to establish six community-run conservancies in northern Kenya.

The Pokot and Turkana communities will be jointly involved, which should enhance security in the bandit-prone region. The well-established pro-conservation lobby Northern Rangelands Trust will help the groups create a management committee, as well as train the scouts to monitor movement of wildlife and livestock within the regions.
