A revolutionary new lighting system that uses 7000 high-tech LED lamps has been installed in Rome’s Sistine Chapel, along with a new state of the art ventilation system to protect the frescos from humidity, meaning that 2000 people can visit at any one time without causing damage. Each LED has been carefully tuned so that the frescos appear exactly as the artists intended. The chapel was originally lit by natural sunlight, but this had to be shut out in the 1980s, when it was realised that the sunlight was gradually causing the frescos to fade. Read more: thelocal.it
