Singapore’s Changi Airport offering 48-hour stopovers – here’s how to enjoy the city in two days
Singapore’s Changi Airport Group has recently launched the ‘Changi Stopover’, aimed at encouraging Changi Airport transiting passengers to book a layover holiday in the Lion City.
In just 48-hours you’ll have time to get a taste of the cultural melting pot that is Singapore. Start with a trip to one of the city’s many hawker centres, where you can tuck into some famous Singaporean dishes. Culinary highlights include smoky satay, fiery chilli crab, tangy fish head curry and fragrant chicken rice. Foodies happy to queue should make a beeline to Michelin-star brandishing Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle stall in Chinatown complex.
With a world-class transport system, you'll easily zip around the island to visit buzzing Chinatown, aromatic Little India and the trendy boutiques of Kampong Glam. History buffs should head straight to the Colonial District, known for its swath of wonderfully curated museums, galleries and architectural gems.
Nature lovers shouldn’t miss the awe-inspiring Unesco’s World Heritage Listed Singapore Botanic Gardens, home to ancient rainforests, themed gardens and rare orchids. For a glimpse into the future, visit the space-age bio-domes and high-tech Supertrees at the S$1 billion urban planning masterpiece Gardens By The Bay.
As dusk falls, pull up a perch at one of Singapore’s many rooftop bars and watch the city change from day to night, cocktail in hand. When it’s time for dinner, take your pick from world-renowned international chefs, to local Singaporean institutions before hitting the dance floors at Circular Quay mega-club Zouk.
Changi Stopovers offer one, two and three night options, with or without breakfast, the packages start from S$63 per person. Also included are a complimentary one-way airport-hotel coach transfer and SIM card, to the value of S$10.
