Silversea Cruises announces $170 million fleet refurbishment
Luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises has announced the biggest fleet-wide refurbishment plan in history, costing an estimated US$170 million.
“We are thrilled to be moving ahead with these major refurbishments and look forward to welcoming guests aboard and sharing our unique vision of ultra-luxury cruising, both in terms of service and physical environment,” said Manfredi Lefebvre, Chairman of Silversea. “We pride ourselves on being the reference when it comes to ultra-luxury cruising and this investment reflects our long-term commitment in this regard toward our ships, our guests and our crew.”
Silver Whisper, the fleet for the company’s World Cruise, will undergo a refurbishment that is expected to be complete by the end of 2016. Refurbishments on the Silver Whisper suites will include work on suites, with dark emperor marble flooring being put in bathrooms, a freshly tiled pool with chaise lounges and re-skinning of floors and ceilings in dining areas.
The communications hub on the ship is also set for a major overhaul, with the addition of two satellite antennas to improve internet speeds on board. Interactive televisions and on demand movies will also be available in every suite.
The Silver Wind and Silver Discoverer fleets are also due for extensive upgrades over the next year also.
