Shootings and grenade attack kill seven in Burundi’s capital

At least seven people were killed Tuesday in a grenade attack and shootings in Bujumbura, police and residents said.

This further spate of violence follows the controversial election of President Pierre Nkurunziza to a third term. Residents of the Ngagara neighbourhood - a stronghold of opposition supporters - said a television cameraman, his wife and two children were among the dead. The British FCO still advise against all but essential travel to the capital. Read more:
