Shanghai Pudong airport welcomes first flights on new fourth runway

Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport opened its new fourth runway on Sunday. The first arrival was a China Eastern Airlines flight from Gansu province, which arrived at 10:05am. The opening of the new runway makes Pudong the only airport in China with four runways in operation. It is also China’s busiest, welcoming 50 million passengers in 2014. To handle growing capacity, Pudong has already begun work building a fifth runway. Read more:
