Selfie sticks banned from major US museums due to safety concerns

Many of the biggest museums around the United States have imposed a ban on selfie sticks due to concerns over the safety of their artworks as well as other visitors. The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and many of the Smithsonian museums in Washington DC are among those to have outlawed the stick gadgets. ‘Selfie sticks are restricted out of concern about damaging the art or people in more enclosed spaces,’ one official at the Getty Center in Los Angeles said.
