High-tech gadgets search for endangered whales

American and Canadian scientists will utilize high-tech devices like unmanned aerial gliders equipped with acoustic sensors to look for endangered North American right whales off the coast of Nova Scotia.

The scientists hope to research the whales’ migratory routes. The whales are known to spend summers in the Bay of Fundy to feed with calves, but recent sightings of whales around Nova Scotia have resulted in strange migratory anomalies – large pods deserting known habitats and generally fewer sightings.
