Russia goes halal-friendly to attract Muslim tourists

Russia’s tourism authorities have launched a campaign for more halal food products in the country’s restaurants and hotels.

The start of the campaign, officially known as Halal Friendly Program, coincided with the opening of the Visit Russia office in Dubai and its aim is to attract more Muslim tourists, particularly from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The Halal Friendly Program will be launched in Moscow, St Petersburg , Kazan, Sochi and the Golden Ring towns but the campaign will be extended to more cities in the following months. The program will include both cuisine from Russia’s Muslim regions as well as halal-certified traditional Russian dishes. Read more:
