Rio to temporarily remove 78 Zona Sul bus lines
Rio de Janeiro's Zona Sul (South Zone) will see a decrease in bus lines in order to reduce traffic and streamline public transportation.
Of the 78 lines that run in the congested part of the city - which will be removed or merged with other lines - 33 will gradually stop operation beginning in October. Though the reduction in service has been approved by city experts, bus drivers and fee collectors have concerns about their jobs and passengers are dissatisfied about having to several buses to travel across the city.
