Rio de Janeiro explosion collapses building and injures eight
A huge explosion occurred in the São Cristovão neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro’s Zona Norte (North Zone) on Monday, collapsing a building and damaging at least 40 surrounding structures.
Eight people, including one child, were injured, and officials are still uncertain of how many people were inside the building. The area is currently without electric power and schools have been closed for the day. Fire officials have yet to determine the source of the explosion but believe the blast may have been caused by leaky gas containers that were stored inside the property. Read more: riotimesonline.com
