Wanted: retired travel addict for an expenses-paid ‘senior gap year’ around the world
If you're a pensioner who regrets not taking time out to see the world when you were younger, we have the perfect job opportunity for you. UK-based price comparison site, Compare the Market, has just launched a quest to find a lucky retired person to go off on what it is calling a 'senior gap year'.
The person chosen will be called the company’s ‘senior gap year adviser’ and will receive the latest camera equipment and up to £10k worth of paid-for expenses, They will visit some of the world’s most stunning destinations, and will be tasked with taking pictures and videos and writing a monthly blog post, creating a fun, relatable guide for future senior travellers.
Travelling in your senior years has become very popular and we recently learned that women over 50 are leading the boom in solo travel A survey by Compare the Market also revealed the interesting fact that a quarter of 2000 British people surveyed regret never taking a gap year when they were younger. The reasons they didn't do so included gap years being "unheard of" back then, going straight into full-time employment or parents not allowing it. As a response to this, the company has now launched its search for a retired travel addict to take an expenses-paid trip of a lifetime around the world.
To apply, entrants must submit a 200-word personal statement outlining why they’re the best person for the job by 12 February. Three successful candidates will be shortlisted for a public vote and the winner will be announced in mid-March.
