Restaurant row after shrimp dinner costs Chinese man 2,700 yuan
One unlucky dinner at a Qingdao seafood restaurant was hit with an enormous bill after being charged 38 yuan per prawn.
The Chinese man named Zhu ordered what he thought was a 38 yuan plate of fresh prawns from seafood restaurant Shande Live Seafood and Barbecued Home-Cooked Dishes, only to find that the price listed was per item. When he queried the bill the owner pointed out this technicality in the menu’s fine print and reportedly became violent when Zhu refused to pay the extortionate bill.
