Hotel will let you celebrate the Queen’s birthday in royal style and luxury with a $90,000 dessert
As Britain’s longest-serving monarch turns 90, the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans is offering royal birthday packages that are truly fit for a queen.
To mark Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday on 21 April, for the next three months guests can book a $120,000 three-day stay at the luxury hotel that includes a $90,000 dessert.
The Queen’s Royal Birthday Package includes three nights in the two-bedroom Presidential Suite at the hotel, located in New Orleans’s famous French Quarter. It also includes afternoon royal tea for four and a tasting dinner with wines paired by sommelier and the most luxurious part – the incredible and expensive dessert.
The dessert was created by pastry chef Shun Li and is an “edible 24K-gold encrusted dark chocolate fondant cake with a raspberry and passion fruit sauce made with Cristal Champagne”. But what makes the treat truly astounding is what is on top – and not just the gold chocolate and gold-covered fruit. Placed on top of the already gleaming treat is a 3.95-carat, ruby and diamond ring from M.S. Rau Antiques.
The package also includes a daily breakfast, four hours of private spa treatments, a private tour of the Windsor Court art collection and of M.S. Rau Antiques with a champagne lunch.
The hotel’s cocktail bar will also be serving a drink called the Queen’s Prerogative, which is a variation on the Dubonnet Cocktail consumed each day by the Queen at lunch. Unfortunately, since most people don’t have royal bank accounts, they'll have to find other ways to mark the Queen’s big day.
