Queen Victoria’s enormous underpants sold at auction

An anonymous buyer has purchased, at auction, a pair of 132cm-waisted knickers that used to belong to Queen Victoria. The knee-length bloomers were worn by the queen ‘towards the end of her life, when she had eaten a lot more than most people could afford to,’ said the auctioneer. When the Queen - Britain’s longest reigning monarch - died she gifted many of her clothes to her servants. The underpants, which sold for £6,200 (US$10,000) date from around 1890 and had been in a Kent family for more than 80 years. Read more: bbc.co.uk
