Potential for ferry between Portugal & Morocco

Portugal is in discussions to launch a ferry route connecting its southern city of Faro in the Algarve with the Tangier region of northern Morocco.

The trip is expected to take about five hours and would use a catamaran, similar to that used on the route between Tarifa in southern Spain and the Moroccan city of Algeciras. If the ferry launches it will resurrect a sea connection that was axed about 20 years ago. The Tangier tourism authority said the route could be up and running within 18 months to two years.
